Double Sustainer Program
The HistoryThe Rotary Foundation (TRF) has established many forms of recognition for contributions. A Rotary Foundation Sustaining Member is an individual who contributes, or in whose name is contributed, a minimum of $100. In addition, this individual has the stated intention of becoming a Paul Harris Fellow by contributing a total of $1,000. The Sustaining Member recognition was established when the value of $100 was many times what it is today. It is obvious, then, that inflation has taken a huge bite out of the support for the programs of TRF, which now require even greater contributions simply to stay even. TRF has not raised the giving level for Sustaining Member or Paul Harris Fellow recognition. Beginning the 1998-99 Rotary year, District Governor Neal Hoffman encouraged all Rotarians to double their Sustaining Member contribution to $200. Rotarians embraced his request and today, in his memory, we continue the practice of encouraging District 5170 Rotarians to be Double-Sustainers. The ProgramDuring this Rotary year a special Double-Sustainer Recognition Pin will be given by District 5170 to those who contribute $200 or more to the Annual Programs Fund of TRF. With the permission of the Club President, the District Double-Sustainer Recognition Pin will be presented to donors by the Assistant Governor during a Club meeting with an appropriate ceremony. All Rotarians are encouraged to increase their support of TRF that is so vital for the programs of TRF to continue to serve even more throughout the world. |
