Brad, a charter member of the Rotary Club of Oakland Sunrise, was brought into Rotary in 1985 by then District Governor, Joseph D. Howard, his father. Literally "born into Rotary," Brad entered the world as his father was attending a Rotary meeting. Brad owns and operates an international tour business and a commercial real estate business, both located in Oakland.

Brad was his club's charter secretary and the third president. He has been involved at the district level since 1987, with responsibilities including: chair of the "On-To-The Convention City;" Youth Exchange committee, including serving as the chair of the Summer, short-term program and the Short-Term Exchange Chair for Rotary's northern California multidistrict youth exchange program (WESSEX); 2000/01 District Membership Co-chair. He has also served on the District Conference, World Community Service, and Hands for Honduras committees.

As a tour operator, Brad has led groups throughout the world for more than 25 years. He has led groups of Rotarians to 15 of the last 16 international conventions (he missed Portland, because his son was born during the 1990 convention.) In 1998, '99 and '00 and '01, he took delegations of Rotarians to Ghana, Africa to immunize children against polio. As a result of this effort and his participation in a series of matching grant programs that established a community medical clinic, Brad was "enstooled" as a chief in the Ga tribe and given the title, Nii Arde Anum II, Kokrobite Mankrolo.

Trained as a performer, Brad studied Performing Arts in college, which led to employment by the Oakland Symphony Orchestra and Bill Graham Presents. With three other high school friends they started Piedmont Community Theatre, which in another form, is still operating today.

Later, he switched his focus to business where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California's Haas School of Business. After graduating, he was hired as one of the first undergraduate recruits into Brand Management with the Clorox Company.

In addition to Rotary, Brad's other love is the University of California at Berkeley. He has served in alumni affairs with the University of California's Haas School of Business since 1981. He was the President of the Bay Area Chapter in 1985/86 and became the youngest president of the 10,000 member organization in 1988/89. He has served on the Dean's Advisory Council, the Development Council, and various ad hoc committees. Brad also served on the Board of Directors of the 100,000 member California Alumni Association from 1991 until 1997.
